1. Visit Stanley Park and explore its scenic trails
Lose yourself in the natural beauty of Stanley Park, where lush forests, serene lakes, and winding trails await exploration. Get lost in the dense foliage and stumble upon hidden gems like the iconic Totem Poles and Beaver Lake.
2. Walk or bike along the Seawall for stunning waterfront views

Vancouver’s Seawall is the world’s longest uninterrupted waterfront walk path spanning 28km, which makes it the perfect bike trail. Biking the Seawall with my mum is etched in my memory as one of our fondest moments together.
Alternatively, you can opt for a leisurely stroll along the Seawall, where you’ll be treated to mesmerizing views of the city skyline, majestic mountains, and the glistening waters of the Pacific Ocean, but you might not be able to conquer the entire thing!
Along the way, you’ll encounter iconic landmarks like Coal Harbour and English Bay, each offering its own unique charm and beauty. It’s an experience that’s not only visually stunning but also deeply rejuvenating for the soul.
3. Explore Granville Island Public Market for artisanal goods and fresh food

When I think of the best things to do in Vancouver, Granville Island tops the list. I love the quirky independent shops brimming with locally sourced produce, gourmet delights, and handmade crafts.
If you’re not allergic to long queues for food, try out Lee’s Donuts for some sugary goodness. But fret not as the queue moves pretty fast. You might also luck out with no queues if you get there early when they open! We got there before 11am on a Friday and were munching on our donuts within seconds!
One of my must-visit stores on Granville Island is MAKE Vancouver, selling lots of quirky artisanal home goods, gifts, and accessories.
And also I love a cute little bookstore, and if you do too, I highly recommend popping into Upstart & Crow, a cute little independent bookstore that’s just opposite the Liberty Distillery. Nooroongji Books is also another cute bookstore to check out.
4. Take a ride on the iconic Vancouver Seabus

Who knew public transport could be an activity in itself? But taking the Vancouver Seabus is exactly that. You’ll get to marvel at panoramic views of the city skyline and coastal mountains as you glide across the water.
And here’s a bonus – the Seabus welcomes pets! So, you can enjoy the scenic journey with your furry besties. It’s a unique way to explore Vancouver’s beauty from the water, without missing out on any pet-friendly fun!
5. Visit the Vancouver Art Gallery for contemporary and historical exhibits
Immerse yourself in the world of art at the Vancouver Art Gallery, home to an extensive collection of contemporary and historical works by Canadian and international artists. Explore thought-provoking exhibitions, attend engaging events, and gain insight into the vibrant art scene of Vancouver.
6. Wander through the historic Gastown district and see the famous Steam Clock

If you happen to be walking around Gastown, and you stumble upon a crowd of people standing around taking photos, you’ve likely chanced upon the Steam Clock.
Gastown is Vancouver’s oldest neighborhood, known for its cobblestone streets, Victorian architecture, and charming boutiques. And the iconic Steam Clock fits right in. Get a close glimpse at how the clock still runs on steam to this very day.
Cameras at the ready! The clock chimes every 15 minutes and emits bursts of steam, adding a whimsical touch to the historic streetscape.

TIP: I recommend coming on a rainy day, as there will be fewer crowds so you get the clock (almost) to yourself, and the rainy weather just adds that extra touch of magic to it!
7. Visit the Vancouver Lookout Tower for panoramic views of the city
What’s a visit to a new city without going up one of its tallest towers? I’m just kidding.
Soar to new heights and take in breathtaking views of Vancouver from the Vancouver Lookout Tower, an iconic landmark towering above the city skyline.

As you approach the library’s central branch, designed by the visionary architect Moshe Safdie, prepare to be captivated by its bold geometric shapes and striking angles. It reminds me of the Roman Colosseum!

And who can blame them? With the stunning natural beauty that surrounds the city, hiking is the perfect way to escape the hustle and bustle and reconnect with nature.
Now, when it comes to hiking in Vancouver, the options are endless. Whether you’re a seasoned pro or a beginner looking for a scenic stroll, there’s a trail out there for you. One of the most iconic hikes in the area is the Grouse Grind, also known as “Mother Nature’s Stairmaster.” This steep trail climbs up the face of Grouse Mountain and offers a challenging workout with rewarding views at the top.
The trail is only 2.9km long, but it’s made up of 2,830 stairs that go almost vertically up the side of Grouse Mountain, with an elevation gain of 2,800 feet. To give you an idea of what that looks like, it’s the equivalent of 236 floors.

For those seeking a more leisurely hike, the Lynn Canyon Park trails are a local favorite. The Baden-Powell Trail winds its way through lush rainforest, past waterfalls, and over suspension bridges, providing a perfect balance of natural beauty and accessibility.
If you’re up for a longer adventure, consider tackling the Stawamus Chief in nearby Squamish. This towering granite monolith offers several challenging trails to its summit, where you’ll be treated to jaw-dropping views of the surrounding mountains and ocean.
And of course, no discussion of hiking in Vancouver would be complete without mentioning the Pacific Spirit Regional Park. Located near the University of British Columbia, this expansive park boasts a network of trails that meander through dense forest, past tranquil streams, and along scenic bluffs overlooking the ocean.
